Billboards are everywhere, and are a great way to promote the message of the gospel of God's grace through Jesus. The Lord has led Jeff to establish a Gospel Billboard, beginning in the Greensboro/Piedmont Triad area. Our goal is to have the first billboard erected by Passover/Resurrection of 2011. We are currently raising money through fundraisers like bake sales, yard/garage sales, car washes, and food events. We plan to sell homemade ice cream during the summer months. Additionally, Jeff will be promoting the billboards during his "We Would See Jesus" gatherings.
Cost?
The cost for these billboards vary by market and location within the market, ranging anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 per month. Ideally, we want to place the billboard in the most conspicuous places in order to impact the most people. For example, a location on Interstate 40/85 in Greensboro. Our goal is to raise enough money to pay for the billboard for six months to a year and afterward we believe it will become self-supportive from donations received via the toll-free number and/or web site.
Partnerships
During the time immediately after the first gospel billboard is erected, Jeff will contact churches in the area to introduce them to the billboard and inquire about the church's desire to support it through a partnership. Jeff is hoping the church will allow him to address the congregation as a missionary. It is NOT our goal to promote or advertise a specific church, but the gospel message. However, churches who choose to partner with the Gospel Billboard Project can have their churches listed on the web site as supporters. Ideally, we would create a map image to indicate the locations of each billboard with a link to those churches that support it. Again, our intent is NOT to support, promote, or advertise a particular chuch, but at the same time, we think it beneficial that people know what churches are supporting the gospel.
The Message
Although the passage from Hebrews 8:12 summarizes one of the results of the gospel of Jesus, the eternal forgiveness of sins, we are not limiting the messages on our billboards to this one passage. Below are other sample billboard images.
