The Revelation of Grace and Truth

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. —John 1:17

I want to share with you about the revelation of grace and truth. By the Spirit of God, the apostle John is revealing that the revelation of God from the Old Testament, primarily from Moses, was incomplete. But when the Word became flesh, Jesus was born and through Him we see and receive the fullness and complete revelation of God.

Oh, what a wonderful word from the Lord we have here! We know that grace and truth came by Jesus Christ and so in order to see what grace and truth are we must look to Jesus and what He did not only in His ministry on earth, but also in His ministry through His death and resurrection where He now functions as our High Priest.

I want to direct your attention to the three main actions of the Lord’s ministry, which was first to reveal the Father’s true nature and character who wants to be re-united with mankind; and second to reveal the Father’s goodness and love by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, setting the captives free; and third to take upon Himself the sins of the whole world, so we would be cleansed and freed from all condemnation.

In what Jesus has done for us, we see grace and truth personified. The Hebrew word for truth is emeth אמת which is made up of the first, the middle, and the last letters of the Hebrew alphabet, reminding us what Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” And also, “I am the Alpha and Omega (aleph tav) the first and the last, the beginning and the end,” and that “Jesus Christ the same yesterday (from the beginning) today (in the middle) and forever (the last).”

As we can clearly see, the truth is in Jesus and the revelation of Jesus is the revelation of God, and if you want to see what grace and truth look like, look to Jesus. And if you want to see who God is, look to Jesus.

The word of Lord spoken through the prophet Jeremiah gives us a wonderful picture of grace and truth:

"Thus says the LORD... Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them and will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth... and I will cleanse them from all their iniquity whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me... and it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do to them; and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure to it." [Jeremiah 33:6, 8-9]

The revelation of the abundance of grace and truth has brought to us health and cure from all sin, sickness, disease, emotional issues, mental illness, birth defects, and any handicap, injury, bondage, distress, or failure.

We have been cleansed from all iniquity and we have been pardoned, set free as high as the heavens are above the earth. And we have a name—the name of Jesus—that is a name of joy, praise, and honor to proclaim to the whole world of the Father’s goodness revealed through Jesus.

What a great picture of our Father's goodness and salvation in Jesus!
